The best Popeye site yet- and the best NEWS yet! Overjoyed to read that Warners' are finally putting out the Fleischer DVD's. No more spending hundreds of $$$'s for scratchy prints from all over creation! Keep up the good work.

I just watched the CGI Popeye cartoon that was made just a few years ago. Oh, how it made me long for the Fleischer versions. Not only was it just over the top kiddie, but there was no witt, and manic energy that the Fleicher cartoons had. Popeye said some of the dumbest lines I have ever heard.

I really can't wait until Fleischer classics hit DVD next year. Hopefully offer all Fleischer classics in a seperate set. I do not want them mixed up with other crappy versions, like the Hanna-Barbar ones. Uhhhh

Just a word of advice to those of you considering a purchase of the DVD currently being offered by THE VINTAGE THEATRE.COM. They do have all the cartoons in the order of their release, however beware, while they have excellent prints originally shown on cartoon netwrok's Popeye show, there are too many of the atrocious Turner colorized episodes from the 1980s mixed in with the great black and whites. What is even more disturbing is that the print of Aladdan has such poor sound quality that you have to turn your TV up to full blast just to hear it. They do a good job with the Famous Studio productions, and while it is nice to have every cartoon, it is an injustice to have to view those bastardized color versions of our favorites mixed in with the classics. I'd suggest waiting until the Warner collection comes out next year. Ahoy maties! Mike Lacy Indianapolis

I'm thrilled that I found this web site. I just wanted to mention that Tom Hatten came to my elementary school in 1961( if memory serves)....and myself, my older sister and my folkes were guests on his show at channel 5 KTLA in Los Angeles. My sister had won the squiggle contest that they had going on at that time. Needles to say I'm a huge Popeye fan and hope all the great classic episodes come out on DVD real soon! I want to cry with joy as I watch them. Take care all.
