An excellent and very tasteful site on first glance about a thrilling subject: the great Popeye black and white cartoons made by Fleischer (and even the colour ones they did).

I'll explore this site more, so thank you for making it.

Love your website. Please check out mine. I have recently produced a CD of my father's music. He was one of the main song writers for the Fleischer cartoons particlarly Popeye. I would love to link with your site. I did a show of his music at the Pasadenia World Animation Celebration in 1997.

Yours is the finest Popeye website on the entire internet. I grew up watching Popeye and so did my brothers, sisters, and my children. There will never be another cartoon so wholesome and good for children as the Fleischer brothers black and white Popeye episodes. Like you, I wish that they would one day soon put them on DVD. I would buy them all! Thank you for your excellent work on this GREAT Popeye URL! I wish that everyone appreciated Fleischer Animation like we do.

If anyone deserves a TRIBUTE, it's Popeye. And this site magnificently honors the contribution of the pipe-tooting runt with both style, class, and sophistication.

For me, the brilliance of the one-eyed, spinach-chomping sailor is that he spans generations, possesses a 'cross-cultural' brand of humanity, and promotes values and ideals that are always in fashion.

That is the true genius of Popeye: his timelessness and natural, inherent wisdom.

Without ever having read a pop-psychology book, sitting on a therapist's chair or watching any daytime talk shows, Popeye instinctively and intuitively knows who he is and "what's right". He exemplifies the very best of humanity: stay true to your own values, care for and protect others, and fearlessly stand up to those who do wrong.

Popeye is honorable ("Stealin' Ain't Honest"); is gentle and kind to those who are vulnerable ("Be Kind to Aminals", "Never Sock a Baby" and "Protect the Weakerist"); is wise enough to recognize and accept the complexity of women ("Wimmin Is a Myskery" and "Females is Fickle"); has the wisdom to know when to "Leave Well Enough Alone"; is comfortable with his masculinity and strength ("Vim, Vigor, and Vitaliky"); yet does not hesitate to show his softer side ("I Yam Love Sick" and "I Like Babies and Infinks"); eats his vegetables ("The Spinach Overture") and encourages love, kindness, and acceptance between peoples everywhere ("Brotherly Love"). But the solid core of Popeye's appeal is that he is always true to himself ("I Yam What I Yam") and knows his own limits ("That's all I can stands 'cause I can stands no more!").

Popeye provides a sharp -- and very beautiful --- contrast to the emptiness of modern western values with it's shallow over-emphasis on materialism, consumerism, idealized beauty, perfectionism, greed, and other meaningless, external measures of "success".

Popeye exemplifies all that is good and right with humanity and that's why I love Popeye!

Toot! Toot!
